Later that night, Spectral rode into the clearing on his horse, looking for her. He spotted her near the center of the clearing and strode over, then he scowled when he saw Dallen as well. He near growled as he said, "Wake up! Now!"

She opened her eyes but didn't look at him, her peaceful blankness becoming a frown.

Dallen woke with a start, looking immediately at the king, "Hello sir..."
"Away from my daughter. Now." Spectral growled.
The young boy nodded, moving away from Night and standing, bowing to the king. He glanced at the princess.

Nightingale looked up at her father, crossing her arms. She gracefully stood up at went up to Dallen, smiling thankfully. She got on her tip toes and kissed his cheek, then quietly started walked to the castle, pretty much ignoring Spectral and taking the path she knew wasn't big enough for the horse.

Spectral scowled at Dallen, then pointed in the direction of his daughter, "Follow her. Make sure she stays safe. When we arrive at the castle, I want to talk to you."
Dallen nodded, then ran after the princess. He smiled at her, "Hey. I'm Dallen. Why'd you kiss my cheek?"

"As a thank you." She said softly, rubbing her eyes. "You got to meet the king."

"Yes... I don't think he likes me. He wants to speak with me when we get back..."

"I won't let him kill you." She laughed weakly.

"Okay. Thanks." He looked at her, "I don't know your name, Princess."

"Nightingale." She said. "But you can just call me Gale."

"Pleasure to meet you." He smiled, "How old are you?"

"You as well. Id say I'm probably...... 19 as of Christmas eve."

I thought she was fifteen.... We skipped fourteen years when she was one.
"I'm nineteen. Was going to join the army. Still plan too."

"I have to start as a town guard unless they have another opening. I hear General Finnegan started as a personal guard for the queen, who was the princess then. I didn't exist then. He was my age. And two years older than Queen Illirea." The young man sighed, "I want to be like him, but I don't think you're looking for a guard, are you? Wait! I shouldn't be asking. That's against the law... You'd have to choose me of your own accord... Urgh."

She giggled and looked up at him, "And if I am?" The princess asked, smiling brightly.

"I'm not allowed to ask, but I'd love to guard you. Protect you. It would be quite the honor..."

"And I believe its an honor you should accept." She grinned, pulling her curls back behind her ear. "I can also recommend you to Finnegan."

"What do you mean, I should accept?"

"I would like you, Dallen, to be my guardian." She said.

"Thank you... I'll guard you with my life, until your twenty-second birthday, when I'll pass on protection of you to who you choose as husband." He smiled, looking at her, "I'll get to meet Sir Finnegan? He's my hero. I've been fascinated by his achievements since we first learned of him in history in my village. It's three days from here."
